I was tagged last week by Sylvia with the Three Characters Meme. Here goes:
Name up to three characters…
…you wish were real so you could meet them:
- Gandolf
- Atticus Finch
- Monsieur Swann
…you would like to be:
- Thursday Next
- Elizabeth Bennet
- Harry Potter (though I might change my mind after book 7)
…who scare you:
- Magwich (from Great Expectations)
- The Red Queen
- Dr Moreau
This was one that required a surprising amount of thinking. The ones that scare me were the easiest because I’m a big chicken. The other ones were more difficult especially the ones I wanted to be because who wants to be someone who commits murder or suicide or any number of other horrible life choices that some very interesting characters make? This was fun to do though. Anyone else want to play? C’mon, don’t make me tag you!
Another vote for Gandalf! And I agree about Dr.Moreau! *shudder*
Wonderful answers… very tempting meme.
stealing this!
I would like to be Alice (of Wonderland fame) – if only for the size change fun!
Sorry for long time no comment, I have been reading, just not saying much! By the way, after reading about it via you I joined BookMooch recently and love it!
I don’t know if I could do a post like this because I would have such a difficult time thinking of the characters I would want to meet or be. I do think I could come up with some that scare me though. I might have to think about this, now I’m interested to see who I would pick.
Why does Elizabeth Bennet scare you?
Whoops, I read it wrong.
I loved all of your answers, especially the bit about Elizabeth Bennet. She’s one of the reasons “Pride and Prejudice” is one of my favorite books.
I’ll play along in the comments.
Name up to three characters…
…you wish were real so you could meet them:
1. Brigid O’Shaughnessey (sp?) (I have a soft spot for femme fatales. Yum.)
2. Professor Dumbledore
3. Mercutio
…you would like to be:
1. Sherlock Holmes (What can I say? He’s my favorite fictional character.)
2. Harry Potter (I’m stealing one of your answers, because it’s so true!)
3. Superman
…who scare you:
1. Buffalo Bill from “Silence of the Lambs” (I read this book at a young age, and saw the movie, and I’ve been scarred for life, I think.)
2. Mrs. White from “Carrie” (Every time I think my mom isn’t being very nice to me, I just remind myself that at least she isn’t a nutcase like Carrie’s mom.)
3. Dracula
This is a hard meme. I’ll have to think about this one and see if I can come up with some answers.
Oh, good choices! I’d like to meet Swann too. This looks hard — I’m not sure I can think of answers!
Great answers!
Great answers – and I’m not going to be able to resist a go at it…thinking already! This is going to be tough!
Hmm, Thursday Next. I’ll have to look that one up. Atticus Finch! The Red Queen! Love those. I’m def going to think about this one…
Another vote for Thursday Next! I mean come on, a woman who actually gets to live in books and talk to book characters? That one’s a no brainer! : ) Now as for the other two people I’d like to be…Humm, that would be Jane Eyre (sweet, quiet homely Jane!) and Sherlock Holmes (oh, to have such an eye for detail! – And because of what Brandon said too
: ).
Three people I wish were real so I could meet them:
1. Achilles from The Iliad
2. Lady Macbeth from Macbeth
3. Philip Marlowe from all of the Raymond Chandler books
Three people who scare me (this is a hard one since I don’t scare very easily):
1. The monster clown in Stephen King’s It (I don’t care what anyone says, clowns are creepy)
2. Mr. Fagin in Dicken’s Oliver Twist
3. The Raven in Poe’s The Raven
All of you should consider yourselves tagged except for Syvlia who has already done it and Brandon and J.S. who have provided theire answers here. Love your Sherlock Holmes Brandon. And JS, Lady Macbeth would be an interesting one to talk to. My sister would also agree with you that clowns are creepy.
