Danielle, I hope you are right about those last 500 pages! And poor Louisa is right, until her medical treatment she was a healthy and strong woman. I think you would enjoy this one.

Yay–you’re making great progress on Clarissa! Those last 500 pages are going to be a piece of cake compared to the first 900! My library has the Cheever book–now I’m going to go and look for it! Poor Louisa May Alcott–can you imagine? Medical treatment has (thankfully) come a long way. I think I’d enjoy this sort of chatty biography.

Dark Orpheus, yes, a dangerous book for sure. I was sort of shocked by Sophia at first, but I like her too, because as you say, at least she was honest.

Stefanie I just finished reading The Concord Quartet which details the friendships between Alcott, Emerson, Hawthorne and Thoreau. I think you’d enjoy it.

I echo what Dorothy says — but I would say this is a dangerous books. You end up wanting to read so many other books!

On a sidetrack, I think I like Sophia Hawthorne. At least she was honest about how she felt about Margaret Fuller.
