Yay--you're making great progress on Clarissa! Those last 500 pages are going to be a piece of cake compared to the first 900! :) My library has the Cheever book--now I'm going to go and look for it! Poor Louisa May Alcott--can you imagine? Medical treatment has (thankfully) come a long way. I think I'd enjoy this sort of chatty biography.

Jenclair, if these are some of your favorite authors then I am certain you will like this book!

Dark Orpheus, yes, a dangerous book for sure. I was sort of shocked by Sophia at first, but I like her too, because as you say, at least she was honest.

Leo, thanks for the recommendation! I will look for it.

I echo what Dorothy says -- but I would say this is a dangerous books. You end up wanting to read so many other books!

On a sidetrack, I think I like Sophia Hawthorne. At least she was honest about how she felt about Margaret Fuller.
