Friday at last. It seemed as though it would never get here. Spring is on the way, the snow is beginning to melt, the birds are singing. It’s a great relief. There is always a point at the end of winter when it seems like it will always be cold and the snow will never melt and I feel a little desperate and so very tired. And then suddenly it is above freezing during the day and forty degrees never felt so warm.

Class is winding down and this is the last weekend of the quarter. I am glad and sad. Introduction to Systems Analysis has been a challenging class but challenging in a good way. I have learned a lot and the professor has been absolutely wonderful. He has a great sense of humor and he has being kind down to an exquisite art. I have never come across anyone who can so nicely tell someone they are wrong without actually saying it. I’ve been paying attention to how he does it so I can give it a try sometime. My final exam will be done and turned in by Sunday night and the discussion board will be done by Sunday too. Then I will have two weeks of one less obligation.

As much as I enjoyed the class, I am ready for a little break and definitely not at a loss for reading material especially since three new books have made their way into the house this week. Litlove wrote a great review of Rosy Thornton’s book Hearts and Minds and now I have a copy of my own compliments of the author. I am very much looking forward to reading it.

My Bookman also brought me home a copy of The Savage Detectives by Roberto Bolaño. I doubt that I will get to this during my spring break, but I am excited to have it and hope to fit it in to the reading schedule soon.

Then today a nice surprise showed up in my mailbox. I pre-ordered Alberto Manguel’s The Library at Night months ago so I wouldn’t have to remember when it was being published. It’s published now and in my hands. It looks like it will be happy reading along the lines of A History of Reading only about the history of the library.

Heavenly times ahead.
