I have been AWOL this evening making the final push to answer my required number of reference questions at the Internet Public Library. And I did it! I just submitted question number seven for a person who was looking for websites that listed nonprofit board openings across the country. I even found a website that includes out friends in Canada
Today I got an email from the IPL saying one of the questioners sent a reply email. It turned out to be the person who was looking for internet directories several weeks ago. I wasn’t sure after I had sent the information if I had actually provided what was requested. Apparently I did as the patron’s reply was a hearty thank you. Oh that made me feel good!
Now all I have to do is put all of the questions and answers, along with what I thought about how I did on each of them and what search strategies I used and a final summing up of my experience together in one big paper. That shouldn’t be too very difficult and I should be done with it this weekend, two weeks ahead of schedule!
Oh, and I got my grade back for the two abstracts I had to write with some good job comments from the professor.
Okay, time to decompress and relax a bit by crawling into bed with a book. Shush, don’t tell my Bookman I’m taking “someone” else to bed!
“I even found a website that includes out friends in Canada”
Pardon me – it’s a non-profit Canadian gay and lesbian website?
Good job, you are super organised!
Dark Orpheus, ha! oops! little typo there.
Jodie, thanks!
Congratulations! That’s one of the things I love best about being a librarian. When someone is truly grateful for your help, it makes you feel great.
Hmmm…you could cut and paste a lot from the blog for that paper, couldn’t you?
Sigh of relief to get your questions out of the way! Isn’t it nice when a patron responds so appreciatively? I like nice patrons like that!!
Oh well done on reaching the end of your assignment – and so glad you had that lovely feedback. It helps to make it all worthwhile!
Lisa, thank you! It really did make my day.
Emily, yes, there is lots of cutting and pasting making it much easier.
Danielle, sigh of relief is right. The guy’s response was marvelous especially since I wasn’t sure I answered correctly.
Litlove, thanks! Positive feedback from the people you help is very gratifying.
