Just a couple things of note before I scurry off to do more studying for my final exam on Wednesday.
In case you were wondering what happened to Europeana, which is still down, the NY Times had an article about it recently. They only had three servers and were prepared for 5 million hits an hour. Imagine their surprise when they got as much as three times that amount. The site should be up and running in a couple of weeks. I can hardly wait!
Has anyone heard of the TNT series The Librarian? And if so, have you seen it? I don’t have cable and just found out about it. Lucky for me thought, Netflix has the first two shows. If I am lucky, I might be watching one of them this weekend unless someone tells me it would be a horrible mistake.
And don’t forget to hurry out and look up at the sky to see the crescent moon, Venus and Saturn hanging out together. It won’t happen again until 2052. I saw it on my bike ride home from work. Beautiful!
Off to study!
I saw the moon with Venus and Saturn on my way home and thought it was beautiful, but didn’t realize it was significant! Thanks!
I was at the gym today and on one of the t.v.s a promo for The Librarian came on – I had no clue! I don’t have cable but I wanna know too if it’s any good
Good luck with the studying!
I think it is actually Venus and Jupiter — but beautiful, yes!
Good luck on your exam! And I must find out about this show!
Alas, we are socked in here.
I’ve seen one of the Librarian movies. They’re not especially good but fun enough. More TV quality than movie quality. I can’t resist Bob Newhart or Jane Curtin though.
I saw the first Librarian movie and I really liked it. The second was pretty cheesy, but still enjoyable. Mostly I just think it’s cool that there is a movie called “The Librarian”!
Please visit my blog.
I have been trying to find people interested in looking at it.
Suggest things to me to make it better.
Thanks.
And tell me if you know of anyone else who might be interested in looking.
Good luck with the studying! it’s been so cold here that I haven’t thought to put a fingertip out of doors in the evening, but maybe there’s still a chance of seeing the planets together? If so, I’ll try it out tonight.
Good luck with your exam! I’ll be lurking at Europeana too…
Good luck with your final exam! I am sure you will do beautifully. And just think, a long break is right around the corner (ahem…at least, I hope it is…)
I hope the studying is going well! One more day, and you’ll be finished. And you deserve a nice long break! I’ll be sure to check out this Europeana site when it’s back up …
Thank you everybody for all the good wishes!
Renee, I didn’t know it was a big deal either until I heard them talking about it on NPR.
Iliana, I should have the first one by the weekend or early next week. I’ll let you know!
Heather, oops! No wonder I couldn’t find a news link for it! Thanks for the correction
Daphne, thanks!
Sylvia, too bad. We usually have that problem here but it was wonderfully clear for a change and I had a perfect view of it over the lake as I rode my bike home in the dark and snow. thanks for the Librarian tip, I won’t have high expectations then.
Lia, thanks for the tip! I’ve got the first one queued up at netflix and can hardly wait!
Litlove, I hope you got to see the stars. It’s been cold here too, it was about 20 for my bike ride home from work last night but I am surprisingly warm nonetheless.
Smithereens, thank you!
Courtney, thanks. yes, I get close to a month off with a two-week reading vacation planned at the end of the month. Woo!
Dorothy, thanks, the studying is going well. I’m at the point where I’m just trying to keep everything in order long enough to take the test!
I’d been noticing what I guessed were two planets hanging close together for the past few days near sunset — quite bold and lovely. But I didn’t realize it was such a rare event either…
Good luck on your exam tomorrow!
The Librarian is silly and cheesy but still kind of fun. I think low expectations is the key. But a librarian. Is the hero. Sort of had to watch ‘em.
Good luck with studying etc.! The Librarian is a lot of fun, like everyone says, cheesy but entertaining. Noah Wyle is a funny guy. Although his character is really more of a curator than a librarian.
wil, I didn’t know until I heard it being talked about on the radio. Apparently in the southern hemisphere they got a smiley face!
Carrie, thanks! Cheesy is ok when it’s fun. And you’re right, can’t miss a show with a hero librarian.
Melanie, thanks! Even if he’s more a curator that’s ok, most people won’t know the difference and will maybe think differently of librarians. Cuz you know how awesome we are
