I hope 2009 is off to a good start. To help it along, I have been contacted by the folks at Bookforum for a special offer.
I have five issues of the Dec/Jan magazine to give away (and a poster with each as well).
Also on offer to all who are interested, a discount subscription of $12 for a year or $20 for two years. That’s a $4 discount off an already cheap price.
You may be wondering why you should subscribe since you can pretty much read all the reviews online for free. But, if you are like me, do you really read all the reviews online? I have had a subscription for about four years now and love the magazine. I read it from cover to cover. The essays are interesting, the reviews well-written and I always end up with half a dozen or more new books on my TBR list by the time I make it to the last page. Even the new book advertisements along the edges of the pages are good.
If you are interested in a chance to win a free issue and a poster, leave a comment saying as much. I will draw five names on the evening of Monday 5th.
You have the whole month of January to take advantage of the discount subscription. Email me your name and address and I will forward the information to my Bookforum contact. My email address is linked in the sidebar to your right. If you are not in the US and interested in a subscription, let me know too. I’ll see what can be arranged.
I used to subscribe to Bookforum–and I agree I prefer reading the paper copy to online! This reminds me I need to renew, but in the interim you could drop my name in the hat. Thanks!
Please enter me, I’m always looking to grow my TBR pile to unreasonably large proportions!
I would like to enter. I too am always looking to add more books to my TBR pile.
I have, amazingly, never heard of Bookforum and would love to find out about it! Please enter me. Thank you!
I’m interested. I need to add to my already unmanageable list of books I want to read before I die.
I would love to win a free issue! It would be a nice way to see if I wanted a subscription.
I’ve never read BookForum, so a free copy would be interesting to see if it is something I want to be reading regularly.
Consider one for me too
, would love a subscription. However, must warn, am based in India. So, I guess you will need to check their shipping policy.
I’d love a subscription! I’m not always on line (my husband would dispute that!)…
A chance to expand the list of books to read – count me in, please !
Please count me in for the draw if possible; can Canadians enter? I’d like to see an issue since I haven’t yet. I’ll check it out online for now.
I’d never heard of Bookforum until today…in an unlikely way. I was reading along in a new library book, Seven Days in the Art World, and came to the chapter on the magazine Artforum. Casually mentioned in the chapter was Bookforum, an offshoot of Artforum. I was curious about this magazine; it seemed odd that I’d never heard about it before today and then to read about it in a book about the art world!
I’d love to take a look at a sample copy.
I also haven’t heard of Bookforum before and would enjoy seeing a copy.
I’m interested!
I would like to enter!
Am I eligible if I am international? I would love to enter thanks.
I am totally new to the book blogging world. I would love to be entered in to this contest. I’m looking for new ways to find books, so that I can start writing book reviews. I have started a book blog, but I haven’t written any reviews yet.
Please enter me.
Count me in! Thanks!
Anything to do with books and I am interested, so please enter my name!
Hi, please enter my name, and thank you for your blog — it’s helped me read more actively.
Please consider me for yoru drawing. I’ve just discovered and am enjoying your blog.
Please enter me as well.
Don’t worry about entering me as living in the UK it would be so expensive to have the magazine flown over. But I like the idea of reading what I can of it online – menacing heights of the TBR pile notwithstanding!
Ooh count me in please! thank you
If its not too late, please enter me as well. Love your blog.
