This isn’t me today, but it is me from a couple snowfalls ago. It could be me today but there would need to be more snow being pushed by that shovel. We’ve had at least five, maybe six inches and will get another one or two by the time it stops. And to think a cardinal was singing merrily while I waited for the bus this morning. The cold gusting wind and the wet, heavy snow has taken away my energy this evening. I’ll try to work up something bookish for tomorrow.

Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m sick of winter, and my winter isn’t even as hard as yours. But March gets here in three days and March brings spring!
Here it isn’t so cold any more but it has been sooooo grey. Horrible dark, leaden skies all the day, very oppressive and dreary. I agree, spring please! Now!
The picture of you shoveling snow provides such a contrast with the warm spring-like image in your blog header.
I sympathize with you. As a former Northerner who moved to the South, shoveling snow is one of the things I don’t miss. But, I do miss that feeling of looking out the window early in the morning, the ground so white, so bright, everything quiet and peaceful.
Dorothy, I wish March brings hints of spring here. It is our snowiest month. Spring doesn’t really start in earnest until April. This time of year always makes me wonder what it is I like about living here. I hope the tulips start blooming soon in CT!
Litlove, the one thing that helps it be bearable is that is is usually sunny this time of year except when it snows! I hope your days there get brighter soon!
Joseph, I was noticing that contrast with the header too. We are both even faced the same way and our heads slightly bent. If only my shovel were a book! I don’t mind shoveling except when the wind is blowing, then it is the pits. You are right, the next day when the sun comes out and sparkles on everything, beautiful!
Well, someone jinxed us, as now we’re getting snow in NE! I don’t expect much–maybe four inches. Maybe this time it will pass you by. At least it won’t last long as the temperatures will be back in the 40s next week!
I agree with Danielle about the jinx. We had a 50 degree Friday to top a warm week, but it was snowing for hours Sunday morning in Boston. I, too, saw my first blackbird of 2009 yesterday and felt that spring is finally here. Oh well.
What’s more, there was heavy snow in Atlanta today. I’ve scarcely heard of snow in Atlanta!!!
BTW, something unrelated (or not). The title of this post, reminded me of the Coen Brothers, who in turn reminded me of Fargo. I watched that film a few weeks ago, and other than all the blood, it was a hoot. I just yelled “Hey, that’s downtown Minneapolis!” in the middle of it. It was fun. I haven’t been to Minneapolis for 8 years now, but the skyline is etched in memory from my numerous night walks on the Old Stone Arch bridge.
Danielle, oh no! Sorry for you snow! I long for the 40s. I was only 15 here today!
Polaris, 50 and then snow would make me crazy. But at least it is some consolation that it won’t last long. Snow in Atlanta? I bet the whole city shut down. I love the movie Fargo! It is rather bloody but I can’t help but laugh even over the wood chipper. The Minneapolis skyline is rather distinctive and lovely, isn’t it? you might be interested to know that the cherry in the Walker Sculpture Garden is being removed this summer for cleaning and a little restoration work.
