Ok. So Rebecca. Oh. My. Gosh! Party over. Mrs. de Winter. Mrs. Danvers. Foggy morning. Open window.
Gotta go do school so I can have time to read tonight though I am sorely tempted to just spend the rest of the evening feverishly reading and ditching school. I haven’t had so much fun in ages!
Isn’t it wonderful?? i can’t wait to read it again. It’s going on my October reading list FOR SURE.
Don’t be tempted to self-destruction by the evil Mrs. Danvers!!
Skip school. Read Rebecca.
I’m so enjoying experiencing this again for the first time through your eyes. Perhaps we could do this with other iconic books?
It is one of those books you just can’t stop reading. I want to read more By Daphne Du Maurier but I don’t really know where to start, she wrote so much.
I read it about 20 years ago and although I can’t really remember any details, I can remember my pleasure at reading it, it was finished in less than a weekend!
@ Jodie: Try ‘The Jamaica Inn’, it’s also a good read, although not as enjoyable as ‘Rebecca’, which in my opinion is a masterpiece. I must read it again!
Isn’t this book good? I love books that you’re willing to ditch shcool over in order to read!
I love “Rebecca”! I’d vote for skipping school and reading, too.
Now I want to read it again . . . so much fun!
I haven’t read this one. I’ve got to add it to my list! (I’ve been meaning to for a while.)
Well, why have I waited so long to read that novel!
Oh how fun. It’s been so long since I’ve read Rebecca but your enthusiasm is making me want to pull it off the shelves. Plus, I did recently read another of Du Maurier’s books and think I have to read more by her! Enjoy the rest of the book.
I first read Rebecca years ago and loved it. I re-read it this year and it was just as good as the first time – it’s still tense and a page turner even when you know what’s going to happen!
Daphne, it is wonderful! your re-read will be lots of fun.
Sylvia, Mrs. Danvers works in nefarious ways but I have mostly managed to resist her lures.
Carrie,
Litlove, oh yes, I’d be glad to. Any suggestions?
Jodie, she did write a lot and since Rebecca is my first book of hers I am no help. Seems like Jamaica Inn is good according to Em.
Em, I would have loved to sit and read this all in a weekend. It is the type of book that lends itself to that.
Danielle, oh yes! Such fun. Not many books make me want to ditch school to read them.
Inkslinger, all these suggestions to skip school are going to get me into trouble!
Alyce, oh yes, put it on your list. It is loads of fun.
Dorothy, a cold and or stormy weekend with lots of hot tea and scones and Rebecca. It will be perfect.
Iliana, I don’t know why I never read the book before. I am glad I finally did.
BooksPlease, I am glad it stands up to a re-read. It seems like one of those timeless stories that can be read many times with much delight.
