Ah *sigh* here we are at only Tuesday and I have no interesting book chat. *sigh* Oh wait, I already sighed. See how it is?
Let’s see, besides school, which isn’t terribly interesting for blogging about at the moment, I’ve been reading Sword at Sunset, but sadly, even my bus/train reading time has come to nothing since in order to keep up with the flood of reading for school I have been reading school stuff on my commute and only reading Sword at Sunset during lunch. Thus I have reached only the middle of the book and Artos (Arthur) has just married Guenhumara (Guenevere) and he didn’t do it willingly either. He was sort of tricked into it and got 100 mounted cavalry in the bargain. But, of course, he has just realized that he is actually in love with her. Even though I am only halfway through the book at this point and I would have thought the story would be further along, it has not dragged at all. It has zipped by and has been enjoyable reading.
And in my email box today I received the announcement of the Booker Prize longlist. More books that look good that I have no time to read. Sometimes life just doesn’t seem fair!
Sorry for the whine. I promise I will be better tomorrow.
Thanks for the link to the Booker Prize longlist. I notice South African J. M. Coetzee is there for Summertime. He won the Nobel Prize in 2003 and won the Booker Prize twice. Some never stop receiving accolades.
Here’s some crackers to go with the soy cheese and whine!
But seriously — it does seem so unfair to have so many lovely books and no time to read them. I think I’m coming to a decision about school… and so I’m cramming in as much reading as possible (more details in my letter, TK by Friday, I promise!)
I know how you feel! The bug I had after my holiday left me with a nagging headache that worsens if I read. I have plenty of time on my hands but can’t get to those books – can you imagine my frustration? So, pass the soy cheese over here, sister. I have every sympathy.
No interesting book chat? Never!
See, I hadn’t seen the Booker list yet so thanks to you now I have
Granted, more books to complain that I haven’t read yet! ha.
Two things.
First, I too, know what it is to have days where the only reading that is done is at lunch-break. I hate those days!
Secondly, it bothers me that the Booker list notice is always sent but when you click on it you do not SEE the List. They make you really look for it.
Again, sometimes I don’t have time for all of this….. research.
I am not sure if it is an overall GOOD thing or BAD thing, that the more time-saving devices we invent, the less time we all seem to have!
I’m sorry about the lack of reading time, although — as you know, of course — it will all be worth it in the end! In the meantime, though, I hope the school reading is interesting.
