Just a quickie today.
If you are looking to get a special gift for someone, why not a new calendar? The Mildly Attractive Men of SLIS features men from the University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, all the months aren’t online for viewing. Should you decide to bless someone with this gift, the proceeds go to help SLIS students attend major conferences.
And in case you haven’t heard, you can view online high resolution digital images of the complete manuscript of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. This also happens to be the only surviving manuscript of the story. And while that’s really cool and all, even better is the look on the girl’s face in the NY Times article photo. Her look of awe is heartwarming. God bless us, ever one!
Off to work on school. The end is near!
I love the picture of the manuscript and the little girls – how sweet is that? Good luck with the work, Stefanie. Goodness me, even I’m thinking of your two week break approaching!!
Oh, I love Dickens. I might need to read this as Christmas draws closer. What a fantastic picture.
Had I not clicked on that link to find out exactly what a mildly attractive male librarian looks like I would never have learned that I was actually viewing “guybrarians.” And my life would have been the poorer for it. Thank you.
Just finished reading Matthew Pearl’s Last Dickens. Thanks for sharing the link to the manuscript!
That picture of the kids looking at the book is so cute!
Litlove, the photo made me grin and made my day. And thanks for the good wishes!
Daphne, I love Dickens too, maybe I will name a cat after him
A Christmas Carol is a favorite story at our house.
bloglily, heh, so glad to provide the enrichment
Emily, you bet. And now I have to look up the book you mention
Dorothy, it’s priceless. Now if only they can look that way at the thought of reading regular books.
