I could have used some help from IBM’s widget, Blog Muse today but, alas, it is not available to the likes of IBM outsiders. At least not yet. Blog Muse lets potential readers suggest and vote on topics they’d like to read about and then presumably the blogger chooses a topic from the more popular recommendations when creativity fails. Could be useful now and then.
I am this close to being done with In the Woods. Oh am I enjoying it. I think I will be finishing it up tonight. Then over the weekend I will pick up Vertigo again and spend some quality time with it. I started reading it about two weeks ago but put it down, not because I wasn’t enjoying it, but because it was taking too much brain power to follow it and work on my school projects at the same time. Plus, I want to have my computer handy while reading so I can look up various references because there seem to be quite a lot of them.
Also this weekend I look forward to getting in some good reading of the Edith Wharton biography. Golly, is this book taking me forever to get through. I am enjoying it though and have no regrets about launching into such a huge chunkster. And who knows? Maybe I will start a new book over the weekend. I have no studying to do and the weather is only going to be in the upper 30s to mid 40s (F) so I think curling up for some guilt-free reading is in order.
Have a great weekend!
I glad you’re enjoying it so much… it’s sitting on T’s book pile for her to read too. I’m reading a fun thriller and completely enjoying it, although it’s making me stay up too late. That’s right, I have no control over the situation. It’s the book’s fault.
Happy weekend!
BlogMuse sounds very interesting – although I know everyone would just vote for more tales of Mister Litlove. He always steals the show! I’m thinking reading this, that I should pick up The Likeness soon, which is French’s second novel. I’ve got it sitting on my shelf and have heard good things about it!
BlogMuse is exactly what I need right now! Life has gotten rather hectic and I haven’t had as much time to plan posts recently so I’d much rather make my readers choose topics for me.
Good luck with the Edith Wharton biography! The various progress reports you’ve posted on it have been fascinating and I’m looking forward to seeing a review once you’ve finished.
I hope you are having a nice lazy, readerly weekend now you are finished with your class for a few weeks. I need to pick Vertigo up again, too. I started it but then library books had to be read by their due dates–you know how that goes. I loved In the Woods and also should pick up her second book. Did you know she has a third coming out in the summer?
This is the first I’m hearing of BlogMuse, but it sounds like it would be fun to use now and then.
Hope you had a great weekend!
And I’m glad you’ve mentioned the BlogMuse, I’ve never heard of it before but I’ll definitely check it out…
Daphne, it’s fun to be caught up in a book where you don’t have to think too much but is still well-written. I long to stay up too late reading but by 9:30 I can’t seem to keep my eyes open any longer.
Litlove, heh, Mr. Litlove does tend to steal the show, but he’s a fun interlude, you’re what everyone visits the blog for
I just looked up the Likeness to see what it is about and now I want to read it. But I think I will wait a bit, don’t want to overdo.
Claire, i agree, when things get hectic sometimes it would be so nice to have someone else tell me what I should write about. The Wharton bio is coming along swimmingly. There will be another report on it soon.
Danielle, thank you, it has been a marvelously lazy and readerly weekend. I didn’t know she had a third one coming out but I do now!
Alyce, it would be fun, unfortunately it doesn’t appear that IBM has made it available outside of their company.
Lua, I had a wonderful weekend, thanks!
I started Vertigo the other day, and it’s such an interesting experience reading it. The font is so big and there aren’t that many words on each page — plus pictures! — but it still feels like a slow read (not in a bad way) because I don’t want to miss anything or find myself confused because I overlooked a transition somewhere.
Dorothy, Vertigo is an interesting experience, isn’t it? It does read slowly in spite of the pictures and the large font but I am having fun trying to fit all of its pieces together.
