Because I am tired after shoveling snow when I got home from work. Because I have 100 pages left to finish Jamaica Inn for the Slaves discussion that starts tomorrow and I probably won’t finish but it’s worth a try. Because I was too slow in thinking of a post for tonight. Therefore gratuitous cat photos.
Waldo, looking relaxed over the weekend:
Dickens after I was chasing him around with the camera and finally got him to lay down tonight so I could take a picture which probably accounts somewhat for the annoyed look on his face:
If I haven’t finished Jamaica Inn by tomorrow I promise I will have something besides cat photos to post.
Jamaica Inn was great, take your time, feel free to post all the cat photos you want.

Lydia, thanks! Jamaica Inn is certainly a wild kind of book!

Cat photos are never gratuitous. Especially when the cats are as beautiful as yours.

Jeanne, ah thanks. And Waldo and Dickens say thanks too π

Your cats are adorable. We have (3) and all of a sudden since it’s gotten colder ALL 3 sleep with us –before it use to be one.I guess we all like to be warm.

Diane, thanks! I don;t know how you manage three cats, my two certainly fill up the house! And they take up lots of space on the bed too, both of them usually sleeping smooshed up against me. I am looking forward to spring when I get my side of the bed back, as I am sure you are too!

Both are so adorable. You can fill your blog with cat photos all you want. I love them π
Btw, is Waldo also a literary reference?
LikeLike
Nish, thanks! Yes, Waldo is after Ralph Waldo Emerson though we also delight in asking, where’s Waldo? π

Waldo and Dickens are dear. Never can one have too many cat photos π

Vanessa, you are too kind and the cats are surely going to get bigger egos than they already have!

Jamaica Inn wasn’t my favorite and I understand that in the dark atmosphere you can need a break sometimes. Good luck!

mesetageresenfranglais, I’ve only ever read Rebecca and was expecting something more like that. This is not and I haven’t quite decided what to make of it yet!

I understand, I read Rebecca first and like you Jamaica Inn after and was expecting the same and was quite startled when I finished it, didn’t know if I liked it or not. My advice is to read some of her short stories that are closer to Rebecca type (some of them) if you wanted to because she was a great writer.

Thanks for the short stories recommendation. I have one of her collections on a shelf somewhere. I’ll have to look for it!

Gratuitous cat photos are always welcome. Lovely cats. My first cat, Smokey, looked very much like Waldo, except that he was all grey.
LikeLike
Joan, thanks! I bet Smokey was a pretty cat. Waldo is dark brown to a light creamy tan. He and Dickens are from the same litter and they couldn’t be more different.

I’m always up for gratuitous cat photos–and they are such cuties! Don’t they have the easy life all comfy on the bed on soft comforters! If there is such a thing as reincarnation I often think I want to come back as a well-loved cat in a warm house–just like these guys! Sorry to hear about the snow–shoveling would wear me out, too!

Danielle, thanks! I too have often thought I wouldn’t mind the life of a well loved house cat. If only we humans could live a more cat-like life!

Oh Dickens, your FACE. You look like my Hilly used to look if you bopped the foot she’d stuck up behind her ear when washing. Hilarious! If it makes you feel any better, my copy of Jamaica Inn arrived today…. I will be definitely be reading and posting, and by all accounts everyone’s loved it so far. But I’m certainly going to be behind!

Litlove, I know, Dickens has an interesting face. We call him our little bear since he often doesn’t have a classic cat face and he is so good at looking annoyed. Oh I am glad I am not the only one behind on Jamaica Inn!

Wait, Jamaica Inn discussion starts now?! Drat. I was totally planning on joining but I could have sworn it wasn’t going to start until the end of the month. At least that’s what it says on my calendar! I still plan on reading the book but as usual I’ll be late. And, of course love seeing Dickens & Waldo!

Oh what lovely cats you have! Waldo looks rather spiritual there… I don’t suppose you’d like a third, would you? Big fat ginger tom? We won’t mention his new habit of attacking my feet in the middle of the night, there’s nothing like being abruptly woken by 20 needle-sharp claws being driven into your sleeping flesh…

Always great to see Waldo and Dickens! They should form a supergroup – Cats With Attitude!

Ian, attitude they definitely have π

Helen, thanks! No, two cats keep us quite busy thanks. It is unfortunate that yours has begun attacking your feet during the night. Dickens often decides at 3 a.m. he needs some attention and climbs up on my chest and lays down with long whiskers tickling my face so there is no ignoring him. Dislodging him is not an option since he comes right back. Still, tickling is much better than claws!
