So last night I thought of a good topic to write about for today’s post. Walking to work through downtown after getting off the train this morning I reminded myself of it, oh yes, that will be good, I thought. Now, when I am home and sit down to actually write it, do I remember what that good topic is? Of course not! If you blog, does this ever happen to you? I hope I eventually remember it or it will drive me just a little more crazy than I already am.
In lieu of what I am certain would have been a stellar post, I give you instead Weird Al Yankovic’s new video Word Crimes. Enjoy.
That is one of the most brilliant posts/videos ever!!

Ha, I love this video! I’m guilty of a few of those word crimes – especially the difference between “few” and “less” but I’m aware of it- my bf calls me out on it every time!

Jeane, isn’t it fun? I think we are all guilty of a word crime now and then but it is fun to laugh about it.

loved this. I get frustrated every time I hear a politician say less when they mean fewer. Another common mistake – assure when they really want ensure

BookerTalk, it drives me nuts when people say “I could care less” when what they mean is “I couldn’t care less.” We probably all have a word crime that bugs us most!

Thanks, Jack will love this one. He was a Chemistry teacher but his red pen is always at the ready. Even BBC journalists seem to be clueless nowadays, they are forever saying ‘the government are’. It’s so maddening.

Pining, “the government are”? Oh dear, that is pretty bad especially coming from journalists who should know better. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Yes, I’m sorry to say that happens to me more often than I like to admit. I even try and jot notes down but then I will forget where I put those…. (and years later will ind them tucked into books). I’m not fond of Weird Al, but am curious to see which word crimes I ‘commit’. 🙂

Danielle, oh I am so glad I am not the only one. It’s kind of funny that you find notes in books years later. I’m sure you don’t commit many word crimes!

Oh the dreaded memory lapse. And it is always the ideas that you are sure would make the very best posts that go awol. I think there is someone out there who monitors our thoughts and then pinches all the topics they like best for themselves. We should call in the ideas detectives straight away!

Alex, at least it is easier to think the forgotten post would have been really good, no one will ever know for sure so can’t prove otherwise! 🙂 I still don’t remember what it was I was going to write about. I hope whoever pinched it from my brain found it useful!

Gah! i forget like that all the time! Hugely frustrating. But I loved the video – what an improvement on the original lyrics! Robin Thicke might still be popular if he’d thought of that song in the first place.

litlove, I feel much better now knowing I am in such good company! Glad you enjoyed the video. Personally I think it rather easy to improve on any Robin Thicke lyrics. Sadly, here he is still rather popular but I am hoping he gradually sinks into obscurity.
