Happy Monday!

So I’ve been doing this new and crazy thing lately. Y’all know I generally have at least half a dozen books on the go at once. Well, since other areas of my life have been rather hectic it seems I need to pare back in the book one. For nearly the past two months I have only had two books on the go at once! One for the daytime and one for bed time. I don’t feel like I am reading any faster than when I have a bunch on the go but I am truly amazed I haven’t begun to get twitchy with just two books.

Okay, so maybe it isn’t just two books because I also have a poetry book I pick up and put down, another book that is a gift from a friend that is a slow read of a chapter a week, my book group book that is a chapter (or two) a month, and then a graphic story here and there. But those are all peripherals so they don’t “count.” Some of you may be saying, Stef, it’s you who don’t know how to count. But when you consider I generally have the peripherals plus half a dozen books on the go, it really is a big change. Don’t worry about me though, once other areas of my life calm down a bit my books in progress will surely increase.

Today’s quote comes to you from The Book of Joan by Lidia Yuknavitch. It is an amazing book that I hope to tell you more about tomorrow. In the meantime, chew on this thought for awhile:

To be human. What if being human did not mean to discover, to conquer. What if it meant rejoining everything we are made from.

Oh how different things would be, yes?
