When the spirit of Christmas arrives in Deadwood, South Dakota, it has a decidedly feline flavor. The town’s only undertaker, Cody Gunner, finds himself playing host to a mischievous cat named Catawampus who opens up a whole new world of holiday cheer – and mayhem. As Cody deals with pesky mice in his mortuary, solicitous Santa Clauses at the hardware store, and amorous elves at the bakery, he also has to contend for first place in the annual light parade against perennial rival Maude Sadler. It’s going to take more than Christmas magic to thwart her this year . . . but luckily Catawampus is on hand to lend a paw!

Learn more about the author
Ann Charles is the author of the Deadwood Undertaker mysteries, a series of traditional whodunits set in the wild and wooly days of South Dakota’s Black Hills. A lifelong fan of murder mystery novels, Ann decided to write her own after becoming frustrated with the lack for good books in that genre featuring strong female protagonists. When she’s not writing, Ann enjoys reading, hiking, camping – and spending time with her cats.
