Marcus Luttrell is a U.S. Navy SEAL and the author of The Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10. After being honorably discharged from the United States Naval Academy, Luttrell completed Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training in 2001 and was assigned to Seal Delivery Vehicle Team One (SDV-1). In June 2005, while on patrol in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province, he and three fellow SEALS were discovered by anti-coalition militia forces moving through the mountains toward their position. A fierce firefight ensued, during which all four Americans were wounded; one died early the next morning en route to surgery.Lutrell alone was able to evade capture until Afghan villagers found him weeks later suffering from exposure and severe injuries caused by shrapnel wounds.” This book gives an extraordinary account into what goes on behind enemy lines as a navy seal operative with unbelievable heroism after his 3 comrades die beside him.
