Brian Jacques was born in Liverpool, England, in 1939. He worked as a merchant seaman and a docker before becoming a professional writer and actor. His books have been translated into twenty-six languages and have earned him numerous awards, including the prestigious Carnegie Medal. Brian Jacques passed away in 2011 at the age of seventy-one.
