In her latest book, Brené Brown offers readers a powerful new way to think about vulnerability. Based on twelve years of groundbreaking research, Rising Strong is the story of how we can all become emotionally stronger through understanding and embracing our vulnerabilities. Brown argues that Vulnerability is not weakness, but rather our clearest path to courage and engagement. She defines three types of vulnerability: emotional (fear-based), physical (pain-based), and intellectual(idea-based). Each one manifests itself in different ways in our lives; for example, we might be emotionally vulnerable when we feel ashamed or embarrassed, physically vulnerable when injured or ill, or intellectually vulnerable when questioning an assumption we’ve always held true. But no matter where it shows up ,vulnerability is essential to both living a full life and connecting with others . Rising Strong helps us understand ourselves better by giving us the tools necessary for facing challenging situations head on . It teaches us how to move past hurtful experiences so that insteadof being overwhelmed by themwe can use them as stepping stones towards greater authenticityand wholeheartednessin every aspect ofour lives.
