Malcolm X was an American Muslim minister and civil rights activist. He was born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. After a difficult childhood during which he experienced racism and violence at the hands of whites, Malcolm radicalized into a militant Black nationalist figure. He is best known for his political activism within the Nation of Islam (NOI) and his conversion to Sunni Islam after leaving the NOI in 1964.
